Neat Games YouTube

Embark on an epic journey as Corin, a young Soladin—a sun warrior in training. Armed with a magical Sun-Spear that doubles as a throwable weapon and platform, you venture into a cursed land destroyed by Culex, an ancient evil once imprisoned in the moon.

Uncover the origin of monstrous mosquito minions that ravaged your town, determined to prevent such devastation again. Journey into an underground city sustained by a Heatseed, generating endless steam. This city was once part of the SolLuna Kingdom, torn apart by a civil war born from differing beliefs.

Navigate through the remnants of this kingdom, battle foes, and explore the ancient city to unearth a solution. The fate of your people rests on your shoulders as you confront the shadows of a fractured past.

Thank you for checking out my game! I will keep working on it until it is a full fleshed out and hopefully fun game!  Please fill out the google form above after playing :)

Hello again, played through what was available in the update.

1. Not sure if an issue with my controller but turning into a seed seemed very inconsistent, varying between 2-7 seconds holding down on the analog stick. Don't know if it needs to be a *perfect* down, but turning into a human by holding upwards seemed to be a 1 second consistently. Eventually I just reached over to the keyboard to press the down key instead.

2. Speaking of analog stick stuff, the character walks much slower. I'm not sure what you have planned in the future, but this seems weird.

3. The giant chasm in the bottom-right of the map - There's a respawn checkpoint in it, resulting in some comedy. There may have been one or two other bad respawn points, such as on top of spike traps.

4. If you dash, just before the door, from the grey room that connects to the 2nd boss/pink room, you'll be spawned directly on top of the spikes.

Thanks so much for playing! I learn a lot watching these :D  I just made 2 new enemies today.  I'll update again once I have 1 more boss (maybe 2).

The download doesn’t seem to be available?

Oh yea sorry, I'll try to upload a DL version soon, just play in browser build atm.

Available now with a lot of updates :D

Well I am stuck ina  room whos door has closed behind me.
jumping beetle enemy there, right side metal door closed/disappeared as mentioned.
left side jsut a high metal wall with an arrow pointing right sticking out of it.

no matter if acorn form or normal, I have no idea how to get out of there anymore :-(

(+1)

Oh sorry, you weren't supposed to be able to get in that room haha.

I've updated the game and it should work now.  However, you might have lost your save.  There are more areas now plus a peak at the 4th biome to the west!  Thanks for playing :D

Hey there, great work so far! I've encountered a bug: you can get stuck in an endless fall if you drop your character into a death pit right after being damaged by an enemy (while you're invulnerable for a sec)

(+1)

OH thanks for finding that! I will fix that soon~ I think if I make the collider box bigger and change it to OnTriggerStay2D that should fix it, I hope lol.

I played through what was available.

Some feedback:

1. It seems like there's variable jump height, whihc makes jumping up to a fixed spear a little hit and miss sometimes. 14:15 and 15:00

 2. Perhaps a thicker, darker outline for the text to make it stand out against brighter backgrounds. The start of the game and 12:15

 3. Upper floors of the forest biome look like they're connected to the lower floor according to the minimap.

 4. Unclear what the purpose of gem fragments are.

 5. Breakable blocks not very visually prominent.

 6. Slipping off end of wall-spear-platform. Not ideal for a platformer. 5:45

 7. The Human/Seed transition needs to be HELD but the control scheme doesn't make that clear, nor is there any animation/gauge to suggest that it needs to be held to make it clear that it's non-instant.

 8. Upwards tile colour (the top of crawlspaces, etc.) blends into the bottom of the forest BG decently. The buzzsaws seem to have a similar visual issue with the cave BG. I was watching this back on youtube though, which has it's own compression issues.

 9. I know it's a WIP, but does the shortcut at 10:55 need to be blocked up and require an ability that you only get towards the end of the demo?

 10. VISUAL BUG - Visually duplicated spear 12:34

 11. Seed Bomb is obtained after beating 2nd boss, yet hint mentions a dash immediately afterwards. Another post here mentions getting a dash and double jump so I assume I missed them somewhere(?). Seems odd for the new power-up to NOT be the first thing you'd have to use right after getting it.

Thanks a bunch for the play through video and the feed back!  I added it all to my notes :D

They progression order is still really odd from extending on the game jam version with 5 bosses close together (so the players could finish the game quickly)  I'm working on the new zones now so I can flesh out the critical pathing better.

I will go through and make fixes as suggested.

Thanks again!

For other spear-related platforming games I can recommend taking a look at these:

https://ohsat-andrej.itch.io/speer (There's a bigger, newer version on Steam)

Hello! Your YouTube video really helped me a lot last time~ If you have time, I would love to see another for the current state of the game :D

Sure, I'll try to get around to it sometime this week.

Awesome~! Hopefully there's no game breaking bugs heh.

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1971439697

There were two occasions where I had two functional spears on screen, one in my hand and one stuck in the walls that eventually merged back together if they both got to my hand.

Im stuck, got double jump power up and now have 3 doors (red behind the wall, blue - i cant jump so far). What do i do now, game is really great and i need to know the ending    ^^

Oh thanks for playing so far!  Those other areas haven't been made yet hehe.  I will upload a new version soon.  It will only have 2 bosses because I'm making new ones and spreading them out to make a bigger game.  You can see the current progress on my YouTube.

Super nice game so far! it would be cool if you could switch between human and seed with on button like Y  (or triangle on PS controller).

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll consider it :D

Very cool mechanic and what a cozy atmosphere! I like it very much :)

Thanks! I'm really hoping to make the atmosphere satisfying :D

The spear is an interesting game mechanic and the minimap was very helpful. I had some trouble figuring out how to use the spear at first and had to watch the video. I didn't get very far in though as I kept losing the spear and it wouldn't recall. I think if it hits a spike it despawns and can't return? I didn't get far enough in to see what the dash and human/seed thing were about. On the other hand, the enemies were barely a threat, so I guess it balances out. In any case, this is really polished for a solo dev, and I hope you do more with it, maybe make it a little more accessible.

Thanks for playing! Yeah I didn't have time to make a proper tutorial section. I'll keep working on it for sure.

really really atmospheric, relaxing, and has a lot of exploration feels. I am really enjoying it

Awesome! That is the feeling I was hoping for :D

I got  hardstuck after the first boss by pressing Up & down twice nearly at the same time -> fell through the ground (didn t do that on purpos) and was unterneath the collider or in the collider!  you can find me on the MVM Discord (Thetra #6609) I have a screenshot of the position. I will delet this post in a day so no bad comment standing here.

Your Game looks amazing and the music and ambience of the game is fantastic! love it - the spear game is very nice

Thanks for the report! That's happen to me as well hehe.  I think I might add trigger collider in seed tunnels with a bool that doesn't allow the player to get big while in there.  Hopefully that will prevent it :D

I just want to say, I love your games! I always play them when they come out/ I'm sure this one won't be any different :D

Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad somebody enjoys them :D
